Director of Editorial Services

The Director of Editorial Services is responsible for developing marketing and communications strategies for Silver Lining clients.

This individual will work closely with up to five clients to oversee the development of goals, strategies, and implementation plans to execute comprehensive sales & marketing campaigns with the goal of enhancing brand recognition and generating increased revenue.

The incumbent will develop marketing programs that strategically position our clients as leaders in their respective fields and generate brand love, while establishing Silver Lining’s own status as an industry leader.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing marketing and communications strategies and solutions to meet clients’ brand objectives.
  • Directly managing strategy and execution for 4-5 Silver Lining clients as an Account Lead.
  • Maximizing brand value through the development of ancillary revenue streams and new opportunities.
  • Ensuring all products, services, and other offerings conform to brand identity and conduct ongoing brand management.
  • Generating and overseeing content creation for client. This includes working with Creative Services staff and other department heads to produce marketing collateral in accordance with brand messages.
  • Generating compelling written content that is compelling and engaging.
  • Developing marketing plans within budget requirements.
  • Collaborating with all departments to identify internal and external customer needs.
  • Communicating and negotiating with promotional partners as needed for joint marketing activities.
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on similar industry activities; making recommendations based on findings/opportunities discovered.
  • Generating quarterly client wrap reports.
  • Developing, managing and executing an annual strategic marketing and communications plan to span across all communication media (online and offline) and reach appropriate target audiences, based upon specific performance goals.
  • Evaluate the success of various communication strategies and provide and implement recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyze potential new products/media to enhance marketing/communications initiatives.
  • Develop, manage and produce materials to create a cohesive image and message for print and all offline communication vehicles.

  • Bachelor/Master’s in journalism, English, marketing, advertising, sales, communications or business administration, or equivalent.
  • Direct work experience in editorial or marketing management capacity.
  • Agency and/or editorial experience is an asset.
  • Excellent understanding and familiarity with brand building and brand management.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple client accounts at one time while prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build and manage strategic relationships with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Big picture thinker with an ability to think strategically while paying attention to smaller details.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
